Elisabeth studied flute in Glasgow and London with David Nicholson and William Bennett. After working with many of the London orchestras she joined the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in 1988. During her 25 years with the orchestra, Elisabeth was privileged to work alongside many international soloists and conductors including Sir Charles Mackerras, Emanuel Pahud and Alfred Brendel. Elisabeth was involved in many chamber music and concerto projects during that time and was also closely involved with the much-admired SCO outreach and education department, SCO Connect.

In recent years Elisabeth has been following a growing interest in music education and has completed the Dalcroze Society Stepping into Music training programme, aimed at introducing music to pre-school children. The Dalcroze method uses movement as an essential element in experiencing and understanding music. This works as well with conservatoire and professional musicians as it does with small children. Her experience of Dalcroze informs Elisabeth’s flute teaching at all levels and she uses it widely in workshop situations with advanced flute players and groups of amateur players alike.

As well as having a busy private teaching practice, Elisabeth teaches flute and baroque flute at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh. She is much in demand as a tutor at flute events and summer schools throughout the UK where she has worked alongside Sarah Newbold, Wissam Boustany and Ian Clarke. Elisabeth was a member of the jury for an international flute competition in Poland in April 2014.
